Emmaus Misses at the Buzzer - Moody Wins!

Emmaus Misses at the Buzzer - Moody Wins!

this past Tuesday, December 5th, Moody hosted Emmaus Bible College in their second meeting of the year. Because these two are familiar foes, it was a game full of emotions. The gym was loud and the game was intense, but Moody came out on top in the end. Final score: Moody 68 Emmaus 66.

The game started very slow. With about 10 minutes left in the first half the score was only 13-9, Emmaus leading the way. Both teams picked up the pace a bit going into the half, Emmaus still leading by 1.

The second half is when things got crazy. Both teams had highs and both had lows. A low for each team was fouls. the first half was a fairly clean game, only 11 fouls in total, but the second was much different. With multiple technicals and both teams well over the double-bonus, things got chippy. But it all came down to the last two possesions.

With the game tied under 30 seconds, Moody had the ball and Christian Pollard took charge. He put up a jump-shot at the top of the key and was fouled, sending him to the line. The tension in the gym could physically be felt, but Christian clutched up and sank both. Emmaus got the ball with a mere 6 seconds left and drew up a play. The play worked according to plan, but the shot was missed. Moody took their second win of the season and the first win the Solheim Center has seen in a while.

Before going on break, the Archers will go on the road to Olivet Nazarene and Kuyper, both this week. Stay tuned for update. GO ARCHERS!
