Archers Lose Against Rockford University

The Moody Bible Institute women's volleyball team fought valiantly but came up short against Rockford University in three sets during a nonconference match-up on Tuesday night in Rockford. As a Division III school, Rockford represented one of the most difficult opponents of the season for the Archers. The host Regents unleashed a powerful offense in the first two sets, hitting an eye-opening .555 with 28 kills in 45 total attempts.

But after losing 25-8, 25-4, Moody hung tough and refused to relent, bouncing back with a strong third set performance. The Archers rallied to within one point at 19-18 after an ace from Hayley Williams and a kill by Kiarra Henkel. Rockford then closed out the set scoring six of the next eight points to win the set 25-20 and capture the match.

Freshman outside hitter Grace Vahey paced Moody with seven kills. Williams dished out 13 assists and led the Archers with 10 digs as well.

Moody travels to Milwaukee on Thursday for a nonconference tilt with another Division III opponent, Mount Mary.
