Archers Lose Against Great Lake Chrisitan

The Archers traveled to Michigan to take on Great Lakes Christian this past Saturday.

Moody played an inspired first set, refusing to quit in rallying from a 15-7 deficit to win 27-25 behind nine straight service points and four aces from Vahey.

The host school bounced back to claim the second set 25-17. The Archers quickly rebounded to build a 19-12 lead in the third set behind more of their standout defense that began frustrating the hosts' hitters before Great Lakes staged a furious rally to edge Moody 25-23. The fresher hosts, who hadn't played since Wednesday, closed out the match with a 25-15 victory. The Archers kept fighting till the last point in their third match in less than 24 hours, but racked up seven service errors in the decisive fourth set.

Williams dished out 27 assists and 12 digs and Vahey pounded 12 kills and 4 aces and recorded 11 digs to pace Moody and shared the team's post-match hustle award for playing hard every point of the Archers' three weekend matches. Henkel contributed 12 digs as well, and freshman libero Emiley Marchan had 9 digs and 2 assists. Clinton led the front row blocking crew with 4 blocks.

This week, the Archers have two home games! They will play on Wednesday (9/18) against Mount Mary University at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday (9/21) against Emmaus Bible College at 1 p.m. We hope to see you there!
