Moody Soccer goes to Illinois Institute Technology

The Moody men’s soccer team lost 5-0 to a strong Illinois Tech team on Saturday night. The team moves to 3-4 with the loss.

Illinois Tech opened the scoring in the 9th minute from a long throw in. The Archers responded with chances of their own, coming close to equalizing on a few occasions. The Archers came closest when Dani Martinez found Liam Clinch running in behind the Illinois Tech defense. Clinch’s shot was well saved by the Illinois Tech goalkeeper, Alex Kern, who ended the match with ten saves. Illinois Tech scored their second goal in the 31st minute from a penalty kick, and the third just two minutes later. Illinois Tech completed the scoring with two goals early in the second half.

“It was not the result we wanted today,” said Coach Jon Forsythe. “We made several basic errors, and a strong team like Illinois Tech will capitalize. While the score line was difficult, there were portions of the game that we competed well, and I am proud of my team for working hard for all ninety minutes.”

The Archers face regional opponent Maranatha Baptist University at home on Tuesday.
