Tre Walker of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Donovan Wright of Chicago, Illinois, received the "Legacy Award" from the NCCAA Division II Midwest Region. The award goes to seniors who have played their entire career at one school.
Walker, a Co-Captain for the 2024-25 squad, was the team's second leading scorer averaging 10.2 and led the team by connecting on 41 three-point shots. Looking back on his basketball career at Moody, Tre comments, "Basketball has taught me that life is full of the unexpected, but that is what makes it meaningful and worth living." After the season and graduation, the Integrated Ministry Studies Major plans to "get engaged, get married, and start working. While trusting God to handle the rest." Coach Jordan comments, "Tre is our leader, and he embraced that difficult role. He was a tremendous help to me in many aspects of running a basketball program. He made himself available to help things run smoothly. I really appreciate him and wish him well in future endeavors."
Wright, who has been playing guard or a small forward in his career, needed to change positions due to the Archers' lack of size and depth in the post requiring him to play inside against much bigger players. "Donovan, along with a couple other players were taken out of their comfort zone by moving to unfamiliar positions. I appreciate the fact that he was willing to be unselfish and do this for the team," states Jordan. Donovan still managed to be the team's fourth leading scorer averaging 8.5 points per game and was among leaders on the team in rebounding averaging 4 per game and assists at 2.2 per game. Donovan feels that competing in basketball has taught him that "Discipline plus consistency equals success." The Human Resource and Counseling Major wants to study further into Ministry and plans to pursue a Master's Degree with the possibility of playing another year of basketball and is pursuing schools that both can offer athletic scholarships and a suitable program of study.
GO ARCHERS!
