ARCHERS FALL IN A TOUGH REGION BATTLE 76-69 AT HOME

Moody was trying to build on a nice 70-41 home victory this past Thursday against Appalachian Bible College, but region foe Maranantha Bible College would have none of it. The visitors from Watertown, Wisconsin used hot shooting (54 % from the field) to build a 39-26 halftime lead. The Archers were ice cold from the floor shooting .37 (11-29) from the floor and only .28% (2-8) from beyond the three-point stripe. Moody came out hustling in the second half and outscored Maranantha 43-37, but the late surge was not enough. The loss dropped the Archers to 3-14 overall and 0-4 in Region play.

Freshmen Joshua Bartig led all scorers with 25 points, shooting 10-15 from the floor and 5-7 from the free throw line while grabbing 6 rebounds. Junior forward Demorion Jackson turned in a strong outing tallying 14 points (6-9 from the floor) and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard Marquis Allen had is best outing of the season, connecting on 5 of 7 from the floor, 2 of 4 from the three-point stripe, and 1-2 from the free-throw line for 13 points.

The Archers have a week off to prepare for region foe Grace Christian University from Michigan next Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Solheim Center.
