Forty days have passed since the last time the Archers took the court. The layoff combined with trying to blend four new players to the roster added to the challenge of facing a very athletic local rival in East-West. "We are thrilled to add four young men to our family. The added size, depth, and talent has already made a huge impact on our practices, and I am optimistic that it will greatly improve our level of competitiveness moving forward," states Moody Coach Jack Jordan. East-West used a tenacious trapping defense which created many turnovers and stymied the Archers' offense. Moody trailed by 23 (55-32) at the half.
The Archers settled down and played better in the second half. "We took a little better care of the ball in the second half and made better decisions as the game progressed," added Jordan. Freshman Joshua Bartig, as he has consistently done all season, led the way scoring 19 points (shooting 8-13 from the floor) and grabbing 6 rebounds while adding 5 assists. Junior forward Demorion Jackson gave a strong performance scoring 16 points hitting 6 of his 9 shots and grabbed a game high 12 rebounds. Senior Captain Tre Walker also scored in double figures hitting 4 of 7 shots from the floor and hitting 2 of 4 three pointers for 12 points. Senior forward Donovan Wright and newcomer, guard Aaron Stewart each contributed 9 points.
Moody will be back in action this Saturday at home against Region rival Great Lakes Christian College for a 2:00 tip-off.
