“Silent Night” Was Anything But

"In all my years of Coaching on the college level I have never been part of an event as spectacular as the "Silent Night" promotion which occurred prior to, during, and after our basketball game against Taylor University Friday Night," stated Moody Coach Jack Jordan. "The way the spectators, faculty, staff, and of course the students all completely buy in is amazing." The Archers were already facing many challenges without the promotion. Facing Taylor, (7-2, 2-1) a perennial NAIA powerhouse, with a deep roster including 4 seniors and 8 players ranging in size from 6'4 to 6'11 Moody (2-6) came to battle with only seven players, their biggest being Junior forward DeMorion Jackson (6'4). Jordan added, "Our guys played hard. Not a lot of things went right, but I am excited that if we can get through this tough stretch in our schedule good things are coming soon."

Freshman forward Joshua Bartig led the way again for Moody notching 22 points (9-16 from floor, 3-3 FT) and a game high 5 rebounds. "Josh has emerged as our leader and most consistent player at this point in the season. He finds ways to make things happen. He will play a big role in the development of our program," stated Jordan. Senior Captain Tre Walker also scored in double figures with 10, Jackson tallied 9 with 4 rebounds while freshman guard Isaac Martinez chipped in 9 points.

The tough mid-season schedule continues for the Archers as they will travel to Bourbonnais, IL to face another formidable NAIA foe in Olivet Nazarene University, Tuesday at 6:00.
