ARCHERS TAKE TOUGH LOSS AT DAYSPRING BIBLE COLLEGE

Thursday, November 7, Mundelein, Illinois

The Moody Archers (1-3) travelled to Dayspring with the hopes of a season sweep after defeating the Eagles Tuesday at home by the score of 68-63. But the Eagles, backed by an excited crowd, were not to be denied their first victory of the season. First-year Coach Jack Jordan commented, "Much credit to Dayspring. They jumped on us early and never let up. They took us out of our game, while executing theirs very well."

Dayspring executed their offense with precision while hitting big shot after big shot from the perimeter on their way to a 85-67 win. Tuesday night the Archers utilized a stingy 2-3 zone defense to seal their victory. Tonight, the Eagles successfully employed the same strategy on Moody and the Archers shot well from inside the 3-point line (20-40-50%) but were a dismal 6-32-19% from outside the 3-point line. Jordan commented, "In our last wo games we have shot 16% and 19% respectively from outside the three-point line, we need to improve our shot selection."

Freshman point guard Isaac Martinez was a bright spot for the Archers as he poured in 20 points and handled the ball-handling duties in the absence of junior guard Christian Pollard who did not play after suffering a shoulder injury in Tuesday night's game. States Jordan, "Issac continues to improve with each practice. He really stepped up his game tonight." Fellow freshman Josh Bartig added 15 points and 9 rebounds while junior Demorion Jackson chipped in 11 points with 9 rebounds.

The Archers will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Region rival Emmaus Bible College at 6:00 pm.
