Archers Host Triangular with Maranatha and Grace

It was a full day Saturday, September 30th for the Archers. The volleyball teams of Maranatha Baptist University and Grace Christian University came down to Chicago for triangular matches starting at 1:00PM and ending around 7:00PM. There was a lot of good volleyball played and a lot done by Moody. Although they left this weekend winless, they won plenty rallies. Even in the midst of adversity, they played their best ball till the final point.

Their first game was against Grace Christian and it was battle. Although the scores seemed not to show this, the sets were close. Moody gave up a lot of free points to Grace on service errors, but without those, Moody could have started the day off with a win.

After getting a break from the Maranatha vs Grace game, which was quite the game, Moody came energized to play Maranatha. But this energy met a cold wall--the Archers' star setter, Anias Deac, suffered an injury, taking her out of the game. This was a huge damper on the Archers' match and they had to scrabble to make these work the rest of the game. Williams stepped up to set for the Archers and connected a few times with hitters Sophie S., Abby C., and Joy M., but it was not enough. Maranatha took the game 3-0 ending the long day.

The Archers will have to do some serious hard work this week figuring out the best way to utilize each player in light of Anias' injury. We hope she can recover quickly.

Go Archers.
