Moody Volleyball Wins Twice at Emmaus

Dubuqe, IA. The Lady Archers traveled to Iowa early Saturday morning to take on two conference opponents at Emmaus Bible College. In the first match, home favorite Emmaus beat Calvary in 3 sets. The Lady Archers were up to play Calvary who had a solid setter and middle blocker in their lineup. The Lady Archers focused on their passing game, both on serve reception and digging to allow for first and second chance points. The Archers blocking game was also at play, almost doubling the amount of block touches and block points they started the season with. The Archers topped Calvary in straight sets (25-16, 25-21, 25-10). Next, the Archers played host and favorite, Emmaus. Emmaus is coming into the game, ranked 5th overall in the nation in the conference. It was a battle to watch between two talented teams. The Archers came out of the gates blazing hot, scoring from the line and at the net. Defense kept the Archers chances to score multiple times during the game. The Archers one the first set, 25-13. That woke up a talented Emmaus team and Emmaus won both set 2 and set 3. Leaders emerged on the Lady Archers team in the form of Anna Duehring on defense and at the service line, while Lizzi Landis dished out an average of 10 assists per set. Middle Blocker Meghan Dunn contributed demoralizing kills to cap off wins in both set 4 and the deciding set 5. Sophomore Libero Olyvia Johnson attributed 13 digs Freshman notables included defensive specialist Liz Henry, Abbie Boyer, Ruth Kiger and Jesse Campbell. The Lady Archers are continuing their win streak to 4-0 in beating conference opponents, moving up to the #2 spot in the NCCAA, Division II Northern conference.
