Hat Trick by Dani Martinez Pushes Archers Into Victory

CHICAGO – The Moody Bible Institute men's soccer team won their second home game today against Blackburn College. The Archers started the game strong and dominated the field throughout the whole game. Dani Martinez and Jared Weix scored incredible shots, bringing the Archers to a 4-2 victory.

"We're headed in the right direction," said head coach Jon, "A lot of the new guys came in and played really well. We had 4 freshmen that started and contributed greatly, and I'm really excited to see where we'll go in the future." Kaden McCloughan, Riley Brown, Luke Wilson, and Logan Morse played a majority of the game, demonstrating the Archer's young talent.

Moody's soccer team showed how serious they are taking this season, having their record 2-2 this early in the season has shown their determination to build off of both wins and losses alike.

"I think today's game can be a foundation for the rest of the season," Dani Martinez said after the game, "We were really looking to turn around the results from Wednesday's game, and just to turn the season around for the positive. We were able to do that today. So, the hard work that everybody put in was crucial."

The Archers outshot and outfought Blackburn through all of the first half, and most of the second. Dani Martinez scored within less than a minute going into the second half, which energized the team more and set the pace for the last half of the game. "So many good players today," said Coach Jon said, "but obviously Dani, scoring a hat trick, it's awesome. He's going to be one of the best players in our division all year and to get him going and get him scoring is a great thing for him and for the team. Jared too, with an amazing, amazing goal. One of the best goals we've seen on this field for a very long time. Really happy with that, but honestly, it was a team win. Everybody did their role well and we're happy with that."

The Archers travel this next Saturday to take on the Lakeland Muskies in Wisconsin.
