Moody Archers Come Up Short After Long Fight at First Home Game

CHICAGO – The MBI Archers hosted Viterbo this Saturday for their first home game. It was a hard-fought game, with the Archers showing a lot of determination and confidence. The first half of the game was evenly matched, leaving the score 0-0 at halftime. Moody kept their composure and continued to play with precise ball movement and focus. Though the Archers never slowed, Viterbo's Andrew Weddle (10), scored towards the end of the second half, leaving the final score at 1-0.  "Today was a decent performance from the team, but it was tough to not get the result." Said Coach Jon, "We played really well in the first half especially, outshooting Viterbo 16-9. But we couldn't convert any of our chances, and they took their chance well in the second half."

Coach Jon spoke of the teams fighting spirit when he said, "Kaden McCloughan had another solid performance, making key saves and distributing really well from his goalkeeper position. Nick Gaviria did a great job of keeping the back line organized and solid."

The Archers are keeping a positive view on this season, and with a record of 1-1, they are just getting started. Coach Jon commented, "We are at a really good place as a team. I see a lot of composure and confidence from the returning players and the new guys are competing well for places in the team. We are performing well for this time in the season, and we will be a difficult team to face as we get our attacking movements sharper over the next few weeks."

The Archers are on the road for their next game, as they take on Concordia University Chicago on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
