Olivet got off to a fast start and extended their lead to 62-30 at halftime. Things only got worse for Moody in the second half as Olivet pulled away for a resounding 134-64 victory. The home team shot a blistering 70.9 % from the floor (60-79) for the game and an equally impressive 56.5 % (13-24) from outside the three-point line. The Archers were outrebounded 52-17. "It's tough to beat anybody that shoots the ball the way they did tonight," commented Moody Coach Jack Jordan. He added, "They had good size and depth and kept fresh people on the floor and just wore us down."
One bright spot for the visitors was that four Archers were able to score in double figures. Senior Co-Captain Tre Walker led the way for the Archers with 17 points hitting 4 of 7 shots beyond the three-point line and going 3-3 from the free throw line. Freshmen Joshua Bartig and Isaac Martinez tallied 13 and 12 points respectively, and Senior forward Donovan Wright chipped in 11 points and grabbed four rebounds. "It was good to see Tre regaining his offensive form after being out for a couple of weeks recovering from an injury," added Jordan. "Donovan (Wright) has put together some solid performances in recent games. He is one of the guys we will be counting on when we begin Region play after the holidays."
Moody will face another tough road opponent travelling to Elgin, Illinois to face Judson University Thursday at 7:00 pm.
Go Archers!
